What is the function of an under hood cover? I see this kind of under hood covers sa mga american or euro cars or even the high end ones. What does it do to your engine if you have this?

It's an insulator. It somehow lessens the heat produced by the engine.

but it is also evident on Japanese cars, well, selected ones only.. too bad nga lang, they don't really cover every inch of the hood, usually the middle part only.. but aside from having this under your hood, it also helps if you have your hood annually (every year) rustproofed with what they call at SAVI, the "cavity wax".. it also acts as an insulator, thus preventing waterspots formation on top of the hood whenever it rains and you don't have the chance of opening it up to let the heat from the engine evaporate then close it afterwards. so what i do is, whenever it rains while i'm driving, when i reach home, i quickly open the hood to let the heat evaporate to prevent waterspots formation and i also have it detailed at Big Bert's every now and then so even when it rains and i don't get the chance to open the hood, the watermarks just slide of the hood easily.. musta na pareng wiseguy?! busy yata ah.. ingat

here's the scenario pare.. Altis: floodwater was up to engine & dashboard level, dineclare na namin ng total loss sa insurance..

O.T. Hehe...nabaha din kami Joseph ni Ondoy. Puro tapon. We declared our 2010 Honda City 1.5 total loss. Same with your dad, I'm paying monthly amortization for a car I can't use.
